Today’s flowers are an array of colors and spring florals – from lilac, ranunculus, poppies, sweet peas to tulips. The client wanted something “elegant” for her colleague who was leaving on a maternity leave. So I wanted to make it elegant and beautiful but really capture the joy and vibrance of celebrating a new life. I think lilacs provide an instant uplift with their flowing innocent blooms and heavenly scent. And… I think I have fallen in love with the purple poppy.
Winter has officially arrived. And tis the season to cuddle up in my silk duvet, snuggle my feet in fluffy socks, sipping hot wine while indulging on nightly DVDs – pure bliss. Another blissful wintry pleasure is the flower market. It’s filled with spring flowers from tulips to ranunculus to sweet peas, to cherry blossoms and … my gosh the list continues with some of the prettiest (to me!) flowers. Making bouquets with these fresh spring florals is so theraputic. I love the way these soft stems spread in the palm of my hands and how the sweet scent lingers.
If only getting up on cold dark mornings were a bit easier…
The first photo is a centerpiece I made for an Indian reception. The bride wanted to keep it clean, simple and orange so I used mokara orchids and roses that were complemented by the elegantly shaped and colored champagne gold vases.
Indian weddings are just so beautiful -robust in color and energy and I just cannot help but to create a color palette inspired by their nuptials.
Orange, Fuchsia, Purple, Aquamarine and Gold – Do these eye popping colors sweep you off your feet the way they do mine?
Ever since I could remember, I’ve always been a huge fan of pastels! I think almost every picture I drew as a kid consisted of some sort of these lovely pastel palettes. If you are looking for a baby shower color theme, this is it! The soft and gentle colors match perfectly the love-filled day for the anticipating mom! Together with the macaroon-inspired bouquet and other beautiful pastel images, I hope this adds a little pretty to your muggy Thursday!
